What's Good in Underwood: News from the School
In the library this week and next week, there will be a Scholastic Book Fair. Books will be available for purchase this Thursday before the elementary K-3 spring concert. Each book purchased earns money for the school library.
Due to the snow, most outdoor spring sports events have been canceled or postponed this week. Softball and baseball have had their first games. Senior Gunner Jacobs is optimistic about the upcoming season: “We had our ups and downs. It was the first game of the year, and we have a lot of new players. But it went pretty good.” Softball won their first game. Senior Mikayla Le Roy stated, “It was going good before we got snow, and now with the snow, it’s been postponed. We’ve been practicing in the gym.” Track has not yet had a meet. When asking Coach Ron Slaba about track, he said, “With the weather, it’s been difficult. But we have a good group of kids, so it makes it fun.”
Even though spring sports have been postponed, the arts are in full swing. The high school small group music festival was held last week Thursday. Lexie Jacobson, Madison Heger, and Bailey Gross earned a star rating. Last week Friday, the speech team had their regional competition. Gracie Fuentes placed third in Dramatic Interpretation.
